Growing up, I saw the hardship that my mom faced as a single mother and the lack of opportunities for young people to pursue their dreams in my home country of the Democratic Republic of Congo. When my mother moved our family to Dallas to provide me and my brothers with more opportunities, I fell in love with basketball. Basketball was a universal language that would help me find community in my new home in the US. At 8 years old, I knew I wanted to make it to the NBA and saw it as a way to make my family proud and for me to be able to care for them.
God has blessed me on my journey to achieve my dream of being in the NBA and I know that I can not let the opportunities He has given me go to waste. I started the Emmanuel Mudiay Foundation to honor God and my family. With the Foundation, my family and partners work to support women and children in my home communities.
We hope you will join us.
